The former national anthem of Nigeria, “Arise, O Compatriots,” holds a special place in the hearts of many Nigerians. Composed by the Nigerian Police Band under the directorship of Benedict E. Odiase, this anthem served as a unifying force during Nigeria’s early years as an independent nation.
