Is China safe for tourists?
I’m black and 1.89 meters tall, but I just can’t seem to keep a low profile. I have also traveled to China over a dozen times. I say this. I go out into the city late at night or early in the morning to relax. I stop at stalls and buy street food without speaking a single word of intelligible Mandarin, but I’ve never had a stall owner easily exchange it for me. [Know the currency and prices]. I do some window shopping and buy things to take home as a present for my boyfriend.
That’s my experience.
I never felt like I was in danger. Out of curiosity, I walked along the side streets and watched people despite being warned, but I never felt uncomfortable. Maybe it’s because I only stay in top hotels where the areas I run in are better managed or monitored. (Once, when two police officers asked me if I needed help, I told them I just wanted to relax and they just left me and kept walking. Great. They asked me to show my ID and where I was going.) , don’t ask what you’re doing) It’s morning. I am not treated very well in the EU and US and I speak some of their languages.
I don’t want to be a dealer or have a girlfriend. Perhaps it has something to do with my truly wonderful stay.
Chinese people are racist and their ignorance is more than malicious. I think Chinese people have an attitude, and I think I have that too.
But Chinese people don’t hate me because of the color of my skin. Misinformation leads to negative expectations, but since I’m not poor, I may be convinced that I don’t need anything from China. As long as China is willing to accept my freedom to be myself all day long, I’ll be happy to visit. Black and proud. But I’m not poor anywhere in the world, but I’m not treated that well.
I always think that China is a great place to visit if you don’t want to air your political opinions. There are millions of beautiful and interesting places in China, so you will definitely travel there hundreds of times. Thank you, China, for my experience as a tourist.
