Supreme Court Affirms Bala Mohammed’s Election As Bauchi Governor

The Supreme Court upheld the Court of Appeal’s decision and dismissed the appeal of Sadiq Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress as baseless.

In November, the Court of Appeal had upheld Governor Bala Mohammed’s victory in the March 18 gubernatorial election.

This followed the court’s earlier verdict confirming Muhammad’s victory.

In the Court of Appeal’s decision, the three-judge panel agreed and denied costs, as the court had ruled that each party to the matter should pay the costs.

The presiding judge, Justice Chidi Nwaoma Uwa, read out the judgment in the order of the appellant’s statement of claim in the Court of Appeal. In the first argument, the complainant had requested that the election be canceled because the forms and pamphlets used for the election were not filled out properly. The court found that the applicant failed to substantiate this claim with the necessary evidence.
